Pete Astor : The PERFECT CRIME


Pete Astor (born Abe Smith, 1960) is a British songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist, best known for his work with The Loft, The Weather Prophets and Ellis Island Sound.
Pete Astor was born Abe Smith in Colchester, England, in 1959.[1] He formed The Loft in 1980, the band signing to Creation Records and releasing a few singles before splitting up in 1985. He then formed The Weather Prophets, who released three albums between 1986 and 1988. When the Weather Prophets split up, Astor embarked on a solo career with the album Submarine in 1990, again on Creation Records, followed by Zoo in 1991. Finding success in France, Astor moved to the Danceteria label to release Paradise (1992, as Peter Astor and the Holy Road), and God and Other Stories in 1993. After becoming disillusioned with the music business, he disappeared from view for a number of years, returning in the late 1990s with his Ellis Island Sound and The Wisdom of Harry projects.
In 2005, another Astor solo album, Hal's Eggs , appeared on Static Caravan Recordings (this time as Pete Astor). At around the same time, various Cherry Red compilation albums featuring his work were released, ultimately leading to the surprise reformation of his first band, The Loft.
Astor continues to perform and record with both Ellis Island Sound and The Loft and has recently released Songbox on the Second Language label.

"Feel My Way Around" by Rose Blanket feat. Jennifer Charles


Jennifer Charles was born in Washington, D.C.. While Charles was growing up, her mother was a torch singer in Washington D.C. clubs and her father had a radio show that played jazz. At the age of 14 she began her professional theatre career, appearing in plays and experimental theater productions at places like The Studio and The Source theaters.
In 1987, she moved to New York to continue her theatre and academic studies, receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts from N.Y.U.'s Tisch school in just three years. Upon graduating she appeared in various off-broadway theater, had a stint singing in a dive piano bar and curated a performance/poetry series at the original Knitting Factory. She has also curated at Tonic, DJed in Paris, and most recently at John Zorn's The Stone in December 2008.
Elysian Fields was founded in 1995 and have released five full length records (six counting one produced by Steve Albini that was suppressed). They have also contributed to many compilation CDs, including the first song on John Zorn's Serge Gainsbourg tribute album. This song, their rendition of "Les Amours Perdues", also appeared in Lea Pool's film Emporte Moi.

Bonnie Prince Billy - There Will Be Spring


Will Oldham (born December 24, 1970), better known by the stage name Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, is an American singer-songwriter and actor. From 1993 to 1997, he performed and recorded under variations of the Palace name, including the Palace Brothers, Palace Songs, and Palace Music. After releasing material under his own name, he adopted the "Bonnie 'Prince' Billy" moniker for the majority of his output since 1998.
Oldham is known for his "do-it-yourself punk aesthetic and blunt honesty," and his music has been likened to Americana, folk, roots, country, punk, and indie rock. He has been called an "Appalachian post-punk solipsist", with a voice that has been described as "a fragile sort-of warble frittering around haunted melodies in the American folk or country tradition."

James Blake - A Case Of You


James Blake is a British electronic music producer and singer-songwriter from London, UK. On 6 January 2011, Blake was announced as runner-up in BBC's Sound of 2011 poll. His self-titled debut album was released in the UK on 7 February 2011.
James Blake is the son of James Litherland.
On 19 July 2011, he was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize 2011 for his self-titled debut album.

Crystal Stilts - Frost Inside The Asylums


Crystal Stilts was formed in 2003 by Brad Hargett and JB Townsend. After releasing one single and an EP, the pair expanded to five members before signing to Slumberland Records in the US and Angular Recording Corporation in Europe and releasing their debut, Alight of Night, in 2008. After a few bouts of touring and some down-time, the band returned in 2011 with the LP "In Love With Oblivion", in April 2011 and an EP, "Radiant Door" in November 2011. The group currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.
